The Art

Orthodox flamenco

Orthodox flamenco is Cante jondo, cante antiguo andaluz, cante gitano — the deep currents of orthodox flamenco. Rooted in Andalucía — not a single town, but the whole territory where the song was formed. Jerez de la Frontera, Morón, Sevilla, Cádiz, Granada, Málaga, and the pueblos that carry the lineage — without tablao repertoire, fusion, or spectacle.

Why this exists

Jondo Private exists to preserve orthodox flamenco as it was formed in Andalucía — to hold a supreme standard of quality, to support the greatest artists, and to stand against the wild cultural appropriation flamenco is suffering now.

  • Preserve

Original orthodox flamenco — cante jondo, cante antiguo andaluz, cante gitano — without tablao repertoire, fusion, or spectacle invented for tourists.

  • Standard

A supreme bar of quality — master artists, private rooms, acoustic truth. What you commission is the tradition, not a diluted copy.

  • Support artists

The greatest living practitioners paid at the level their art demands — not extracted by venues, agencies, or appropriation economies.

  • Resist appropriation

Flamenco is being stripped, rebranded, and sold back by people who never held the lineage. This project refuses that — openly, and in how money moves.

Andalucía

Rooted in Andalucía — not a single town, but the whole territory where the song was formed. The tradition runs through the region — Jerez, Morón, Sevilla, Cádiz, Granada, Málaga, the mining towns, the coast, the campo — not a postcard from a single city.

Cante jondo, cante antiguo andaluz, cante gitano — the deep currents of orthodox flamenco. Voice, guitar, palmas; baile and a larger ensemble when you commission at scale.

Each pueblo contributed its own palos — forms shaped in place, not interchangeable styles. The Cádiz shore gave bulerías, alegrías, tangos, and cantiñas; Jerez and the Sherry country the deep soleá–siguiriya current and a school of guitar; Seville and the plain their seguiriyas, tientos, and bulerías de Utrera and Lebrija; Granada the granaína and Sacromonte; Málaga the malagueña; the mining east the taranta and cante minero. Orthodox flamenco is this territory of palos — select a town on the map.

What it is not

  • Tablao repertoire or tourist flamenco
  • Fusion, pop arrangements, or background ambience
  • A public stage, open bar, or mixed audience
  • Anything that is not orthodox flamenco

What happens in the room

Acoustic. From a short private recital to a party that lasts the night — or several days on an estate — with rest for the artists built into the schedule and the fee. Long pauses. No amplification unless the architecture forces it.

Orthodox flamenco does not perform for crowds. It performs for rooms that can hold silence.
